Assistant Superintendent Gerald Witt Announces Plans to Retire 

Assistant Superintendent Gerald Witt Announces Plans to Retire at the End of 2021-2022 School Year.


Julian Gale has been named as the new Director of Student Services.
Greenwood School District 50 Assistant Superintendent for Administration Mr. Gerald Witt has announced plans to retire.
Witt, who has served as Assistant Superintendent for the past 11 years, will continue in his role with the district until the end of the school year.
Witt’s career in education spans 47 years, having worked previously in Lexington Five School District, Orangeburg School District, Richland One School District as a principal, teacher, and athletic coach. During his 13 years in District 50, Witt has served as an Assistant Superintendent and Principal at Brewer Middle School.
“It has been a blessing working in Greenwood School District 50,” Witt stated. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our administration, teachers, and staff to shape the lives of young people who will lead our society in the future. Greenwood is home for me and this school district will always hold a special place in my heart. I appreciate the support of our students, teachers, administrators, and community working together to create so many wonderful memories. I look forward to seeing our schools and community continue to grow.”
Superintendent Dr. Steve Glenn expressed his deep gratitude for Witt’s dedication and years of service to the district.
“Mr. Witt has provided outstanding leadership to District 50 over the past 13 years,” Dr. Glenn said. “He has a proven track record of success in public education and has strived to help all students reach their full potential. It has been an honor to get to know him on a professional and personal level. On behalf of our Board of Trustees and District 50 family, I wish Mr. Witt and his family the very best.”
Julian Gale, Director of GT & Choice/Magnet Programs, has been named as the new Director of Student Services. Gale has worked in District 50 for the last 21 years. Gale received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Lander University. He holds his Educational Specialist Degree from Cambridge College in Educational Leadership.
“I am excited about this new opportunity in my professional career,” Gale said. “I look forward to fulfilling the district’s vision of providing high quality services and support to all of our students. I am confident that our collective efforts as a school district and community will continue to have a positive impact on the learning and lives of our students and staff.”
Dr. Glenn said, “Mr. Gale is well respected by all stakeholders and he will provide the leadership necessary to continue to promote our first class services for all of our students.”
