  • THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
  • * LOCATIONS… PORTIONS OF THE NORTH CAROLINA FOOTHILLS AND PIEDMONT ALONG WITH UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA.

  • .A SURFACE WAVE OF LOW PRESSURE IS NOW MOVING THROUGH REGION ALLOWING FOR SNOW SHOWERS TO SPREAD ACROSS THE AREA. LATEST GUIDANCE HAS COME IN WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER SNOWFALL TOTALS THEREBY WARRANTING EXPANSION OF ADVISORY OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE PIEDMONT OF THE CAROLINAS.
  • ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO ORGANIZE OVER THE NORTHWEST GULF OF MEXICO EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING… AND THEN TRACK ALONG THE GULF COAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD NORTHEAST ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND THEN OVER THE WESTERN CAROLINAS WEDNESDAY EVENING. AT THE SAME TIME… COLDER AIR IS EXPECTED TO MOVE DOWN FROM THE NORTH. PRECIPITATION MAY BEGIN AS RAIN… BUT IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO SNOW AS THE INTENSITY INCREASES AND TEMPERATURE COOLS WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE SNOW MAY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE MID TO LATE EVENING AS THE LOW PRESSURE CENTER MOVES PAST TO THE SOUTH. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD MOVE EAST AND TAPER OFF EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AS THE LOW MOVES OFFSHORE. SOME UNCERTAINTY REMAINS IN TERMS OF THE NORTHERN EXTENT OF THE PRECIPITATION… THE TRACK OF THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM… AND THE DEGREE OF COLD AIR. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS WILL DETERMINE IF AND WHEN A WARNING IS ISSUED FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
