Update on Airport Road Bridge

According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation today the existing Airport Road Bridge in Greenwood will be replaced.
SCDOT attempted to repair deficiencies noted during routine inspections, but follow-up inspections noted further deterioration resulting in the need for long term closure.
The project is part of SCDOT’s Strategic Plan to greatly reduce the number of closed and load restricted bridges in South Carolina. SCDOT is currently in the preconstruction phase which consists of preparation work before construction on the bridge itself can take place.
The construction is expected to begin this summer. Currently, the anticipated completion date is Fall of 2025.
