Greenwood To Build Second YMCA

Lakelands Regional YMCA will be building a second YMCA in Greenwood, according to CEO Brian Harlan. The new YMCA will be located at 325 Presley Street in the former Bowers Rodgers Resale Shop. According to Harlan, this new ‘Y’ will focus on “health and wellness.”
The new YMCA will alleviate any crowding from the 1760 Calhoun Road YMCA, which is expected to increase due to significant home construction in that area, but more importantly, the new YMCA will create an opportunity for people on the south end of Greenwood. Harlan added, “The new YMCA will be located less than a half mile from Greenwood’s original YMCA”
“We are excited about serving children in that area in the High Hopes camps and our after-school program,” said Harlan, who added that the YMCA will also be expanding to Abbeville and Saluda in the near future.
