Obituary for Peggy Burroughs

Peggy Thompson Burroughs, 89, of Greenwood, widow of Thomas Hope Burroughs, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Obituary Peggy Burroughs

Born in Lexington, VA, she was a daughter of the late Stacy Leon Thompson and Lillian Jenkins Thompson. A loving and vibrant soul and devoted friend to many, Peggy was the life of every gathering, known for her infectious laughter, playful sense of humor and mischievous pranks. She loved being busy and involved in all aspects of life, bringing joy to those around her with her warm personality. She loved a good secret and carefully chose the ones to keep. She was a member of Fountain of Life Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mike Burroughs; grandson, Chad Hollingsworth; son-in-law, Ronnie McCutcheon; and fifteen siblings.

Surviving are her daughter, Debbie McCutcheon; sister, Bonnie Thompson; grandchildren, Jimmy Hollingsworth, Tonya Holt, Dennis Burroughs, Julie Wilkie, Tyler McCutcheon and Jonathan Burroughs; fifteen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; beloved nephew, Ricky Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Timms officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Rob Schultz, Kenneth Westmoreland, Cary Wilkie, Al Duncan, Jim Bowser and Jason Ritter.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6pm.

The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Tonya Holt, 112 Old Brickyard Road, Greenwood.
