Northland Launches 1 Gig

NORTHLAND COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES 1 GIG INTERNET DOWNLOAD SPEEDS
(APRIL 1, 2019) – Northland Communications announced the addition of 1 Gbps Internet download speeds for residents and businesses in Greenwood, SC beginning April 1st, 2019. Their new internet offering is now available to over 65 percent of Northland’s serviceable area in Greenwood. The remaining coverage area is expected to be upgraded before the end of the second quarter in 2020, if not sooner.
The increase in bandwidth is a result of a $50 million capital investment in network improvements that Northland secured in October 2018 shortly after their acquisition by GTCR, Inc., a private equity firm. DOCSIS 3.1 technology was deployed in order to offer 1 Gbps download capability. This technology is cutting-edge and offers the most robust network management solution available for cable operators today.
