Matthew Ray Furlong, 62, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at his home.

  Born in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Gary Lyle Furlong and Laura Wolf Furlong. Matthew obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, where he was an active member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. As a self-employed accountant, Matthew was the proud owner of Global Comm Communication Services, where he provided invaluable financial guidance to numerous individuals and businesses throughout his professional journey. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, proudly supporting his alma mater. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.What truly defined Matthew was his unwavering love for his children and his strong sense of commitment to his family and friends. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, creating lasting memories and building strong relationships. Matthew’s faith in God served as a guiding light throughout his life and he was a member of Faith Temple Holiness Church.

  Surviving are his children Maren Furlong, Jordan Furlong, Jonah Furlong, Keri Wilburn (Jacob), Landon Furlong and Eli Furlong; sister, Michelle Youssef (Redman); brothers, Gary Furlong, Jeff Furlong (Jeannie) and Brent Furlong; grandchildren, Waylon Wilburn, Willa-Mae Wilburn, Wrenleigh Wilburn, Sadie Ruth Furlong and Sophia Furlong; several nieces and nephews; and best friend of over 22 years, Mark Swinnea.

  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Warren Thaddeus Wilburn.

  Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Faith Temple Holiness Church with Pastor Mark Swinnea officiating.

  Pallbearers will be Adrian Cockrell, Chris Herbert, Lucas Swinnea, Ronnie Carmack, Jeff Furlong, Brent Furlong, Scott Furlong and Ray Surrett.

  The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 12-2pm.

  Harley Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
