Homicide
On September 2, 2023 at approximately 3:00 AM the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office received a call for shots fired in the area of Chinquapin Rd / Jasmine Ct. Deputies responded and learned while en route that victims were on their way to the hospital. Deputies did locate and secure a crime scene on Jasmine Ct as well as speak with others at the hospital.
Investigators learned that the shooting incident occurred at the entrance to the apartments and multiple subjects had fired at each other. We have two victims who suffered gunshot wounds during this incident. One of the parties involved, 29 year old Rodney Gambrell, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The other subject involved in the shooting is currently being treated for his injuries and his status is unknown. All parties from the incident have been identified and we are not looking for anyone at this time. This incident is still under investigation and any arrest or charges will be updated as the occur.
