Gwd Promise grows to $3.5 million with Self Foundation gift

The Greenwood Promise endowment grows to $3.5 million with gift from the Self Family Foundation
The Greenwood Promise today announced a major gift from The Self Family Foundation in the amount of $1 million to support the recently launched capital campaign. To date over $3.5 million has been raised to establish an educational endowment that will promise all eligible Greenwood County high school graduates tuition assistance.
The program will launch in phases, with $5 million securing the associate’s degree (Phase I) portion for Greenwood County graduates. As the endowment grows there are plans to expand the program to support a limited number of Bachelor’s Degrees (Phase II) that will be targeted to areas that local industry identify as ‘critical needs.’
“There is no doubt that since 1942, the Self Family Foundation has made a tremendous positive impact to the Greenwood community,” said Jim Pfeiffer, Greenwood Promise Campaign Chair. “This generous contribution will continue their legacy and inspire future generations to achieve their dreams through education.”
