Health Care Workers

Greenwood Calendar presents the Greenwood’s Greatest Emerald Award  when an individual or group rises to the top for helping make Greenwood even greater. The Person of the Year award is presented when an individual or group makes a big difference in our community for a considerable length of time.  This year we have a group of individuals who fill both categories: Health Care Workers.

Day in and day out Greenwood’s Health Care Workers are masking up (some for 12+ hour shifts) to serve you and me. Yes, while nearly everyone strives to avoid Covid-19 and its more contagious mutations, Health Care Workers are driving daily to ground zero. This on top of an already demanding job…  They deserve our thanks.

A BIG THANK YOU.

If our hospital beds were completely filled with Covid-19 patients, where would those with kidney stones, heart failure, diabetes, cancer, automobile accidents, and so many other conditions go to get treated.  With that in mind, Greenwood’s Health Care Workers have worked hard to level the curve, to prevent overwhelming the system. They’ve been doing this day after day, week after week, and month after month – for you and me.

These professionals have asked all of us to help them out by just following the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing. Each person that heeds their call lessens their burden.

So, although there are many Greenwoodians who have worked hard and deserve a shout out, this year’s Person of the Year and the Greenwood’s Greatest Emerald Award goes to the doctors, nurses, techs, and other healthcare heroes in and around Greenwood.
