Greenwood’s Greatest Emerald Award: Cameron Dorn
Greenwood Calendar recognizes a worthy recipient each week with the GGEA Award to someone who helps make Greenwood Great! This week’s Greenwood’s Greatest Emerald Award recognition goes to Favorite Son Cameron Dorn, for all he does to bring positivity to Greenwood.
I have had the pleasure of working with Cameron from time to time… recording his entire Guinness World Record for Most Burpees in 24 hours at the Sweat Box here in Greenwood. In May 2015, he finished with 10,105 burpees, shattering the old record of 7,684. Cameron raised more than $17,000 for educational programs and facilities for school children in Peru and to provide funds for his former cross country team at Ware Shoals High School. This event made Cameron the only South Carolinian Guinness World Record Holder in Athletics.
Earlier this month, Cameron served as commencement speaker at Lander University’s graduation. Since graduating from Lander in 2010, he earned a master’s in international business from the University of Winchester in England. He is the creator and president of the corporate wellness organization The Suitcase of Courage, he is employed as a wellness consultant for FujiFilm in Greenwood and its other locations in the U.S. His accomplishments go on and on….
Originally from Waterloo SC, Cameron has repeatedly proclaimed and demonstrated that, “Small Town Does Not Mean Small Opportunities.”
