Covid-19 Today, Know the Facts
While it is reported that the Omicron variant is more contagious, but less severe than previous strains of Covid-19, the virus is still dangerous. SC DHEC says, “Continue to follow the general precautions, including physical distancing, wearing a cloth face covering that covers your mouth and nose when around others, washing your hands often.”
From 18 January until 31 January (2 weeks), Greenwood has had 2,337 confirmed cases of Covid-19 out of a population of 70,811. This equates to an incident rate of 3300.3 per 100,000 individuals which is rated as high by SCDHEC. (Low = 50 or less; Medium = 51 – 200; High = 201 or more)
As of 30 January, Self Regional reported 64 COVID-19 patients with 16 in ICU. Of these, 12 patients are on ventilation.
