Greenwood County Homicide Investigation
On May 11, 2023 at approximately 8:07 PM the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 114 Green Acres DrExt, Ware Shoals after a male was found unresponsive at the residence. Upon arrival Deputies learned that the victim was deceased and had suffered several gunshot wounds. GCSO investigators responded to process the scene and were able to identify a suspect and obtain a search warrant for a nearby residence. Upon execution of the search warrant Investigators recovered property belonging to the victim as well as other items linking the resident, Justin Moody, back to the crime scene. Moody was taken into custody by GCSO Investigators who are currently seeking warrants for Murder, Armed Robbery, Burglary 1st Degree, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime. We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public. Any information on the victim will be released by the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office at the appropriate time.
