Greenwood County Celebrates Sale of North Greenwood Industrial Park Speculative Building

Greenwood, S.C. – Greenwood County celebrated the sale of its speculative building and the arrival of E.A. Sween Company to the community at a ceremonial signing event this morning. The company’s arrival, announced in May, brings a $38 million investment and 300 new jobs to the area.
“We are excited to celebrate this important milestone in the journey towards the opening of our plant in July 2023,” said Tom H. Sween, President and Chief Executive Officer of E.A. Sween Company. “Just as importantly, we’re proud to establish roots in the Greenwood County community through our support of high-priority school programs.”
Founded in 1955, E.A. Sween Company is a third generation, privately owned company that produces and ships sandwiches and other ready-to-eat products nationally. Its brands include Deli Express®, Market Sandwich®, San Luis® and Simply Delicious® Bakery. The company sells more than 100 million sandwiches annually.
The North Greenwood Industrial Park is Greenwood County’s premier economic development site and the first spec building, E.A. Sween Company’s new home, is the cornerstone. This facility will be critical in helping to double the capacity of the company’s sandwich production. When it is fully operational, the company expects to produce an additional 75 million sandwiches a year.
Located at 5730 Highway 25 North in Hodges, the facility is expected to be online in July 2023. Individuals interested in joining the E.A. Sween Company team should visit the company’s careers page.
“Today is a great day for both Greenwood County and E.A. Sween Company,” Greenwood County Council Chairman Chuck Moates, said. “We are celebrating the sale of the North Greenwood Industrial Park spec building and welcoming a wonderful company into our community. I am excited for the future and can’t wait to see what great things this new partnership brings.”

At the celebration, E.A. Sween Company also announced its year-long support for the Food Bank of Greenwood County’s Weekend Backpack Program and additional student nutritional programs in Greenwood County’s three public school districts. E.A. Sween Company will donate thousands of nutritious sandwiches to students in need throughout the school year.
E.A. Sween Company is holding an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on October 18, 2022. For more information on E.A. Sween Company, visit Home – E.A. Sween Company (easween.com).
