According to Greenwood Emergency Preparedness Director George McKinney,
Regarding the current gas situation, bottom line is there is no need to panic and rush to purchase gas. There are additional lines which support the flow of fuel to the northeast from the Gulf of Mexico which have not been affected. Along with supplies from the coast, there should be minimal impact if there is no run on fuel.
ESF 12 is monitoring the Colonial Pipeline shutdown. Colonial Pipeline has currently restored Line 4 from NC to the Northeast. Colonial has also restored many lateral lines throughout the southeast to terminals. Colonials main lines (1&2) are expected to have substantial restoration by the end of the week. Counties may expect to experience sporadic gas station outages at unbranded or independent stations particularly in rural areas. Transportation and fuel related waivers have been issued by the federal and state governments in order to mitigate the impacts.
