Evans and Smith Taking New Roles in District 50

Evans Selected as Director of Evaluation
Chad Evans has been named as the new Director of Evaluation in
Greenwood School District 50. Evans is currently the Principal at
Greenwood High School, a position he has held for the last six
years. Prior to becoming Principal at Greenwood High, Evans was
the Principal of Brewer Middle School for five years. During his 23
years in District 50, Evans has served as an administrator, teacher,
and athletic coach. Evans graduated from Erskine College in 1996
and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership
from Clemson University.
“I am excited about this new opportunity in my professional career,”
Mr. Evans said. “I look forward to leading our staff in continuous
improvement and positive practices to promote the academic
growth of our students and staff.”
Superintendent Steve Glenn is excited to have another outstanding educator moving into a new
role in the district.
“Mr. Evans is a phenomenal educator and has a proven track record of success in our district,”
Dr. Glenn stated. “He will continue to promote positive growth among our teachers and students
in everything that we do.”
Greenwood High School’s principal position has been posted for internal candidates.

Smith Named New Director at the
Greenwood Early Childhood Center

The Greenwood Early Childhood Center will have a new
face next school year. Dr. Molly Smith has been named as
the new Director of the Early Childhood Center. Dr. Smith
replaces Mrs. Ginny Metts who recently announced her
retirement.
Dr. Smith is currently the Principal at Lakeview Elementary,
a position she has held for the past seven years. Prior to
becoming Principal at Lakeview, Dr. Smith served as an
Instructional Specialist in District 50 at Lakeview, Rice
Elementary, and Merrywood Elementary. During her time in
District 50, Dr. Smith has served as a principal, instructional
specialist and science teacher. She has also served as an
elementary school assistant principal in Greenville County Schools.
“I am excited about my next career opportunity in District 50,” Dr. Smith stated. “ECC offers an
enriching early childhood experience for our Pre-K students. I look forward to building positive
relationships with the faculty, staff, and parents as we continue to provide the foundation for
future success.”

Dr. Smith received her Bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame in Mass
Communications, her Masters of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from
Clemson University, and her Doctorate degree in Educational Administration from the University
of South Carolina.
When asked about her new position, Dr. Smith explained, “I feel my unique experiences and
instructional leadership in all levels of education will allow me to successfully lead the staff and
families at ECC.”
Superintendent Steve Glenn is excited to have an excellent administrator moving into a new role
in the district.
“Dr. Smith is a Greenwood native who is an outstanding educator,” Superintendent Glenn
stated. “She is well respected by parents, students and administration. She has a proven track
record of success in public education and will provide the leadership necessary to continue
ECC’s tradition of excellence.”
