Greenwood Drug Bust

This morning, Greenwood Police officers, Greenwood County Deputies, and agents from the ATF went to a residence on Sumter Street to serve arrest warrants on a man they have been searching for. While knocking on the doors to get someone to respond, they detected evidence that illegal narcotics were present inside the residence. A search warrant was obtained and served on the residence. Officers located the man they were looking for inside the residence and placed him in custody. A female was also inside and was detained.
During the investigation, officers located a large amount of crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, more than 200 “blue pills” (fentanyl), oxycodone pills, ecstasy pills, and cocaine. There were also 2 handguns and a sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number. It was also determined that the suspect is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a lengthy criminal history.
Jeremy John Smith, 36, of Greenville, South Carolina was arrested on his outstanding warrants. Mr. Smith admitted to officers that all the items inside the residence belonged to him. The female was released from custody at the conclusion of the investigation. In addition to his outstanding warrants, Smith faces the following charges:
