Dr. Steve Glenn, Superintendent
Re: Superintendent Evaluation
Dear Dr. Glenn,
On May 24, 2021, the Board evaluated your abilities as the District’s Superintendent in accordance with
your contract. As an initial matter, the Board commends you on the work that you accomplished during the 2020-
21 school year, particularly in light of the pandemic and its overarching impact on our students, staff, and
community. As you know, your evaluation assessed six categories: (1) Policy and Governance; (2) Planning and
Assessment; (3) Instructional Leadership; (4) Organizational Management; (5) Communications and Community
Relations; and (6) Professionalism. Overall, you received a designation of “commendable”, and the Board looks
forward to your continued service and success in the District.

As it concerns the categories upon which your performance was evaluated, you scored highest in Policy
and Governance, Organizational Management, and Instructional Leadership, respectively. The Board is proud of
your achievements in these areas and urges you to continue fostering community relationships to serve our
students, maintaining clear lines of communication with all District stakeholders, and strengthening your
leadership team to continue to excel in Greenwood 50.

The Board cannot emphasize the overall importance of appropriate long-range planning and instructional
programming that ensures our students – from pre-K to high school – are well on their way to successful and
bright futures. Such a task cannot be accomplished without recruiting, selecting, hiring, and retaining the best
staff to meet these needs, which you have prioritized, and we expect those efforts to continue. With that in mind,
we ask that you take whatever steps necessary to accomplish the following endeavors for the 2021-22 school year:
(1) continue building relationships with various community groups and organizations to foster additional
opportunities for our students; (2) develop effective procedures to communicate with all District stakeholders and
constituents on a consistent basis; (3) engage your leadership team through training and professional development
to support your goals and initiatives; and (4) ensure your presence in our schools.

Dr. Glenn, we are very appreciative for your hard work and focus, particularly during the COVID-19
pandemic, when you and your team made difficult decisions and paved the way forward for our students, staff,
and families. The Board commends you for your thorough communication with our members, sharing with us
major events and milestones. Under your leadership, we are happy to celebrate your many accomplishments,
including increases in (1) student growth through MAP scores for our early childhood students and (2) the
District’s College and Career Ready percentage. You continue to demonstrate the skills and direction necessary
to maintain safe environments for our children and employees while being fiscally responsible in carrying out
your endeavors. We look forward to your continued success in Greenwood 50 and offer you our unwavering
support as we continue to work to better our schools in this community.
Sincerely,
Ken Cobb
Board Chairman
