On December 9th, The College Board announced Greenwood School District 50 as a member of the 6th Annual Advanced Placement (AP) District Honor Roll. District 50 is one of 425 school districts in the U.S. and Canada and 1 of only 2 schools in South Carolina to receive this significant honor.
AP District Honor Roll recipients are recognized as school districts that successful identify motivated and academically prepared students who are ready for the opportunity of AP. The 6th Annual District Honor Roll is based on an analysis of three years of AP data (2013-2015), and studying 34 AP Exams which include world language and culture. The following criteria was used:
Increase participation to AP
Increase or maintain the percentage of exams taken by minority students
Improve or maintain performance levels within the three year window
“This is an outstanding achievement for our district,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated. “Our district being recognized as a member of AP Honor Roll is a testament to the hard work of our AP teachers and students.”
District 50 will receive a AP District Honor Roll certificate from a College Board representative at a future Board of Trustees meeting. The district will also recognize 2013-2015 AP teachers at an upcoming Board meeting.
