District 50 New Guidance Report

District 50 Covid

Today, Greenwood School District 50 released new guidance that will allow for schools to move towards an endemic approach for COVID-19 with flexibility should a surge or new variant occur. District 50’s new guidance is based on updated DHEC guidelines that were released for schools and childcare centers on February 22.

  • The guidance applies to individual schools, not entire school districts.

  • This new guidance will take effect March 1, 2022.

  • Isolation requirements for those who have COVID-19 will remain unchanged.

  • Schools may suspend Test-to-Stay or quarantine once they have had two consecutive weeks with less than 10% of all students and staff having COVID-19.

    • When Test-to-Stay or quarantine has stopped, contact tracing, testing, and masking of close contacts without symptoms is no longer required.

  • Schools will continue to report the number of cases to DHEC on a weekly basis.

    • If a school has two consecutive weeks with 10% or more of all students and staff having COVID-19, either Test-to-Stay or quarantine will need to be reinstated.

Effective March 1, 2022, Greenwood School District 50 will suspend the Test-to-Stay Program and COVID-19 quarantines per DHEC guidance. Positive COVID-19 cases will continue to be recorded at each school and the school exclusion list of contagious or communicable diseases will be used to help prevent the spread of sickness.

D50 asks that parents continue to contact the school nurse if their child tests positive for COVID-19. If needed, at-home COVID-19 tests will be available and parents can request them through the school nurse.

Greenwood School District 50 asks that all students, staff and visitors continue to ask themselves the Daily Health Questions.
