District 50 Announces Participation in S.C. National Safety Council’s Alive at 25 Program

On May 11th, Greenwood School District 50 officially announced its participation in the South Carolina National Safety Council’s Alive at 25 program. Alive at 25 is offered to drivers between the ages of 15 and 24 as an early intervention program to help prevent traffic violations, collisions, and/or fatalities. The purpose of the program is to help educate young drivers on safe driving practices, responsible behavior in various driving situations, and awareness of typical driving hazards.
“It is our belief that students will benefit from receiving the necessary tools to make good decisions while driving,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated. “Our top priority is always the safety of our students. Better students drivers means safer roads for our schools and community.”
Student drivers at Emerald and Greenwood High School will be required to take the course before receiving a parking permit. The cost of the course is $35. Students must go online at www.scaliveat25.org to register for the class prior to attending the course. Law enforcement officers will visit Emerald or Greenwood High School to teach the Alive at 25 program.
The course is 4 ½ hours and is offered at the following dates, times and locations:
