DETECTIVES MAKE ARREST IN RECENT SHOOTING
Greenwood Sheriff Press Release: Greenwood Police Department detectives have taken 5 juveniles into custody in the last few days following an incident that left a 15 year old male with a gunshot wound to the leg.
On February 12, 2022, officers responded to the area of the movie theater after gunfire was reported. They found the victim in a parking lot with the wound in his leg. In the following days, officers responded to two additional shoots near the Brooks Stuart Apartments.
Since that time, detectives have worked tirelessly to collect the evidence and identify the people involved. We determined that an ongoing feud between two groups of juveniles let to these violent incidents. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify and charge a 13 year old male, 14 year old male, 16 year old male, and two 15 year old males, all from Greenwood. All of these subjects were taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, where they await a hearing before a family court judge. Detectives recovered an “AR” style rifle, a stolen 12 gauge shotgun, and a 9MM Taurus handgun.
This investigation continues to develop, so there may be charges or other persons of interest still pending.
