COUNTYBANK FOUNDATION DONATES TIME, FUNDS TO NEW HABITAT BUILD

Greenwood, S.C. — The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently donated $5,000 to Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity. This donation represents a longstanding relationship between the organizations and follows on the heels of a $100,000 donation over the course of five years.
The most recent donation will go toward the development of a new build site on Reynolds Avenue. “Countybank and Greenwood Capital’s generous donation will not only help frame the walls that support the home but also the family who resides here,” said Stephen Baggett, Jr., Executive Director for Greenwood Area Habitat.
“The Countybank Foundation is honored to provide continued support that provides homes for those in need and in turn have a positive impact on our local community,” said David Tompkins, Greenwood Market Executive of Countybank.
This summer Countybank and Greenwood Capital associates rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their time, working at a Greenwood Area Habitat build site to help put the finishing touches on a newly built home. “We were able to participate in a wide range of activities that included laying pine straw, raking, and planting grass for a newly built home,” said Patrice Freeman, Customer Relations Manager for Countybank, who coordinated volunteer efforts. “We learned about the positive financial impact this can have on the families involved. It was a great hands-on opportunity that allowed us to give back to our community.”
This is not the first time Countybank and Greenwood Capital associates have taken an active interest in Greenwood Area Habitat’s work in the community. In 2020, prior to the onset of the pandemic, the team joined Greenwood Area Habitat at the site of a new home build that Countybank and Greenwood Capital sponsored.
“Providing affordable housing directly impacts local families, and we are pleased to be able to support Greenwood Area Habitat’s efforts,” said Walter Todd, President and CIO for Greenwood Capital. “We will continue to look for opportunities to give back to the community by volunteering and through donations.”
Greenwood Area Habitat is a nonprofit organization that helps families build their own homes alongside volunteers and then pay an affordable mortgage. Its goal is to create opportunities for all people to live in decent and durable shelter.
