Costner Named New Executive Director of Secondary Education
Dr. Charles Costner has been named as Greenwood School District 50’s new Executive Director of Secondary Education. Dr. Costner replaces Dr. Beth Taylor who was recently named as Superintendent of Greenwood School District 52.
Dr. Costner is currently the Director of the G. Frank Russell Technology Center, a position he has held for the past two years.
Prior to becoming Director at the Technology Center, Dr. Costner served as a Principal at Abbeville High School, Long Cane Primary, Long Cane Elementary, and J.S. Wright Middle School in Abbeville County. He also served as the Director of Abbeville County Alternative School from 2018-2020. During his tenure as Principal at Abbeville High School, Dr. Costner led the school to multiple Palmetto Gold and Silver awards for high academic performance and closing the achievement gap.

and career ready graduates.”
Dr. Costner received his bachelor’s degree in science, his master’s of education in administration and supervision, and his doctoral degree in educational leadership all from Clemson University.
Superintendent Dr. Steve Glenn is excited to have an excellent administrator moving into this leadership role.
