Capital Project Sales Tax Commissioners Appointed

Greenwood, S.C. – In a unanimous decision last night, Greenwood County Council appointed three individuals, Steve Coleman, Lesley Lane, and Aaron Taylor, to serve as Capital Project Sales Tax (CPST) commissioners. This trio will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Greenwood County as they embark on the crucial task of reviewing and approving projects to be funded by the upcoming 2024 CPST ballot referendum.
Steve Coleman, a native of Newberry, SC, and a graduate of Stetson University, brings a wealth of experience to the commission. He currently serves as the Director of MODELS Academy at Piedmont Technical College, where he has worked since 2001. Coleman previously served as a commissioner for the 2016 Capital Project Sales Tax, showcasing his commitment to the community.
Lesley Lane, the Director of Property Management and Executive Assistant to the President at Greenwood Development, adds expertise and leadership to the commission. Lane also holds the position of Chairwoman of the Uptown Greenwood Development Board of Directors and is an active member of the City of Greenwood’s Board of Architectural Review. Her prior service as a Greenwood Chamber of Commerce ambassador during the 2016 Capital Project Sales Tax marketing initiative further underscores her dedication to community development.
Aaron Taylor, a Greenwood native, returned to his hometown after completing his college and law school education. With a background as a prosecutor at the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office for six years, Taylor brings a legal perspective to the commission. Since establishing his private practice in 2015, he has continued to contribute to the local community through his professional endeavors.
These three appointments complement the previously announced commissioners, Anne Gunby, Steve Riley, and Margie Blalock, who were appointed during the City of Greenwood’s meeting on Monday evening. Together, this group of individuals will collaboratively work to select the projects that will appear on the 2024 CPST ballot referendum.

The newly formed Capital Project Sales Tax Commission will soon begin its work by creating committees and finalizing the 2024 application for proposed projects. Greenwood County will provide updates on the application and selection process through its website and social media channels.
