Brenda Garner Latham, 77, resident of Allison Drive, wife of Jack Latham, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home.

Born April 7, 1946, in Union, SC, she was a daughter of the late Walter Mace and Katie Lee Palmer Garner. She was raised in the home of her grandparents Mace Vernon and Eloise Gregory Garner in Union. Brenda graduated from Jonesville High School and received her LPN from Spartanburg General Nursing Program. Brenda was a nurse at Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union and retired from Harris Baptist Church as the church secretary after 38 years of employment. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church and was currently the WMU Director, Sunday School Director, and taught the Ballew Leary Sunday School Class. Brenda also served her church and community tirelessly and had a deep devotion for missions locally and globally. She traveled to Ukraine and Guatemala for mission trips.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two daughters, Amy Meredith (Jeff) and Christi Mobley (Carl) both of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Brooke M. Riley (Walker) of Pelzer, Jonathan D. Meredith, Carleigh Mobley, and Kaytee B. Mobley all of Greenwood; and two sisters, Jennie Lemons (Steve) and Shirley Harris (P.D.) both of Union.

She was predeceased by a brother, Kent Garner and a nephew, Scott Lemons.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Rodgers and Rev. Frank Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Larry Meredith, Jr., Walker Riley, Jonathan Meredith, Perry Thompson, David Latham, David Garner, James Ouzts, and O’dell Norman.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-3:00 Thursday afternoon.
