American Junior Golf Association returns to Greenwood
American Junior Golf Association returns to Greenwood, South Carolina for the 3rd Annual Greenwood Junior Championship
Greenwood Junior Championship set for August 8-12, 2021
GREENWOOD, S.C. – The American Junior Golf Association returns to Greenwood for the third time to host the Greenwood Junior Championship. The Links at Stoney Point will host the 54-hole national junior golf tournament, August 8 – 12, 2021. The field will consist of 78 boys and girls (ages 12-19) from around the country and the world. The American Junior Golf Association is excited to announce the Burton Center Foundation will be the primary benefitting organization of the funds raised through the Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament. The Junior-Am, like a PGA TOUR Pro-Am will take place Monday, August 9, 2021.
“We are grateful for our partnerships with Discover Greenwood and The Links at Stoney Point and look forward to returning to Greenwood, South Carolina, for the tournament’s third year. We are thrilled to have the Burton Center Foundation remain as the event’s benefitting charity,” said Tournament Director, Chris Simione. “With the local community involved, we are looking at an opportunity to give back generously to this special charity and the AJGA’s Achieving Competitive Excellence Grant while providing a platform for juniors across the states to compete.”
The tournament begins like a PGA TOUR or LPGA Tour event with an 18-hole AJGA Qualifying Tournament held on Sunday before the event. This gives players the opportunity to “play their way in” to the main tournament. Monday will feature the Junior Am tournament as well as official practice rounds. The tournament will begin Tuesday with the first round and run through Thursday. An awards ceremony will follow the final round.
The event is looking for volunteers to support and see the next generation of PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour stars. If interested, please contact Tournament Director Chris Simione at csimione@ajga.org.
The Links at Stoney Point is located at 709 Swing About, Greenwood, SC 29649.
