Greenwood County Celebrates New Playground at J.C. Boozer Recreation Complex

Greenwood, S.C. – Greenwood County celebrated the opening of its newest playground at the J.C. Boozer Recreation Complex in Ninety Six on March 25, 2024. The new playground, boasting swings, a climbing tower, spinner, slides, and Greenwood County’s first zipline, marks the completion of renovations to the complex.

Funded by the Capital Project Sales Tax, a PARD Grant, and State Legislative Funding, the playground adds to the County’s commitment to providing safe and exciting recreational spaces for children.

Greenwood County Councilmembers Mark Allison and Dayne Pruitt, along with State Senator Billy Garrett and State Representatives John McCravy and Daniel Gibson, joined the festivities, highlighting their support for the project.

“The opening of this playground reflects Greenwood County’s dedication to providing quality recreational facilities for our youth across the County,” said Councilman Allison. “It’s wonderful to see our children have access to such a fun and safe space. We’re delighted to welcome this addition to Ninety Six.”

“The response to our new playground has been fantastic,” added Ninety Six Recreation Supervisor Tee Timmerman. “It has quickly become a hub of activity during baseball practices. We’re thrilled to see it bringing joy to children and families.”
