Cleveland Darrell Hamlett Obituary

Cleveland Darrell Hamlett, 66, resident of Epworth, husband of Lisa Leslie Hamlett, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born October 29, 1957, in Martinsville, VA, he was a son of the late Vernell Cleveland and Betty Campbell Hamlett. Darrell was a graduate of Greenwood High School and owned Backyard Auto Sales. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Lydia. She was the light of his life. Darrell also enjoyed boating and watching western movies and tv shows.

He was a member of Kinard United Methodist Church and past member of Sertoma.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Leslie Lemmons and her husband Roy of Epworth; a granddaughter, Lydia Lemmons; a daughter, Gina Hamlett of Greenwood; a brother, Clarence Bradley Hamlett and wife Amy of Epworth; and two sisters, Beth Hamlett of Waterloo and Cheryl Blackwell and husband Charlie of Greenwood.

He was predeceased by a sister, Everline “Lynn” Hamlett Reep; two brothers, Marvin Lee Hamlett and Jody Bart Hamlett.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Kinard United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Gamble and Rev. Bobby Gilbert officiating.

Pallbearers will be Richard Childes, Timmy Price, Allen Fortner, Joel Manley, Eric McMahan, and Dennis Clark.

The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 5-7 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024.

In honor of Darrell’s celebration of life, the family asks that everyone wears bright and cheerful colors. If you have a memory of Darrell, we ask you to write it down and bring it to receiving of friends, to the funeral, or make a post on his tribute wall. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kinard United Methodist Church, 2217 Highway 248 Ninety Six, SC 29666.
