Jane Lawton Scott, 61, resident of Saddle Hill Road, wife of Dwayne Edwin Scott, passed away January 9, 2024 at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born July 1, 1962, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. “Shorty” and Nelva Anderson Lawton. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Erskine College where she was a member of their basketball teams. Jane retired after 33 years from Greenwood District 50 as a Physical Education Teacher. For 25 years, Jane and her husband, Dwayne, owned and operated Scott’s Martial Arts.
She was a member of South Main Baptist Church where she enjoyed the women’s bible study.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Lauralee Scott of the home; two sons, Austin Scott (Nicole) and their daughters, Gracie and Bella Scott, and Justin Scott (Christina), both of Greenwood; niece, Allison Lawton Cromer (Marc), of Hodges; and sister-in-law, Melanie Hall Lawton of Hodges.
In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brother, Tommy Lawton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Toby Frost officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Reese, Steve Proctor, John Lawton, Kent Cox, Matthew Anderson, Brian Medlock and Kevin Medlock.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 Friday evening.
