Bernardino Galindo Zavala, 78, of 11600 Highway 39, Cross Hill, SC, husband of Elvia Mendez de Galindo, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, he was a son of the late Pedro Galindo and Adalberta Zavala. He worked for Jacobson as a forklift driver from 2006 – 2013 when he retired. Bernardino was very much loved by all his family and friends and loved and cared deeply for all of them in return. He was a humble, hard-working man, who always put his family first. His love for animals was evident, having three dogs, Benji, Rambo, and FiFi; twenty cats; twelve chickens; and one chick living inside, Cuca. Bernardino took much pride in his land, growing all types of vegetables in his garden. His favorite food to make (and eat) was Carne Asada. He also enjoyed making his family barbacoa every weekend, while sipping on one of his favorite tequila golds, Cazadores or Corralejo. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and even hunted pigeons in Mexico to feed his family. From time-to-time Bernardino would get lost in the woods and fall asleep for a peaceful nap.
He is survived by his wife, Elvia; children, Javier Galindo (Griselda Flores), Lorena Galindo, Jose Juan Galindo (Guadalupe Lopez), Elvia Galindo (Fernando Castillo), Erika Berenice Galindo (Carlos Eriberto de Leon), and Luis Galindo (Elena Medina); sister, Maria Luisa Galindo; brother, Claudio Galindo; twenty four grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Efigenia Galindo and four brothers, Humberto Galindo, Juan Galindo, Alberto Galindo, and Jose Galindo.
Bernardino will be placed in his home Friday until Saturday for family and friends to pay their respects.
