John Cooper Named Senior Client Advisor at Greenwood Capital

GREENVILLE S.C. – Greenwood Capital is pleased to announce John Cooper’s promotion to Senior Private Client Advisor. Cooper initially joined the Greenwood office in 2016. This new title reflects Cooper’s continued leadership in the firm and dedication to its clients.

“John Cooper has been a valuable asset to Greenwood Capital and our clients over the last seven years,” said Brian Disher, Director of Wealth Management. “He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to client service as well as the Greenwood community.  We are all so pleased with John’s continued growth within the firm and look forward to many more years together.”

In his role, Cooper works one-on-one with individuals, families, and business owners to develop comprehensive financial plans. He provides a 360-degree view of his clients’ life, investment, tax, insurance, and estate planning goals. With this plan as a guide, he manages client accounts with custom asset allocation plans using Greenwood Capital’s proprietary investment strategies. He also advises local non-profit organizations in managing their investments.

As a Greenwood native, Cooper is passionate about giving back to his community, and spearheads Greenwood Capital’s support of United Way. His leadership and dedication helped Greenwood Capital, along with Countybank and The Countybank Foundation, to donate over $78,000 to local charities last year.

“Greenwood Capital is fortunate to be represented by John. He is committed to doing what is right for our clients and excels in providing holistic financial planning,” said Walter B. Todd, III, President and Chief Investment Officer.  “I am personally very proud to have him amongst our team of talented investment professionals.”

Cooper earned his B.S. with an emphasis in economics and finance from the University of South Carolina and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. Cooper is Chair of the United Way of the Lakelands Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of the S.C. Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. He served as the 2018 President of the S.C. FPA. He is also the coach and coordinator of the Greenwood School District Fishing Team.
