Stone Named New Principal at Northside Middle School

D50 New Northside

Northside Middle School will have a new face as principal next school year.
Gary Stone has been named as Northside Middle School’s new Principal. Stone is currently an Assistant Principal at Greenwood High School, a position he has held for the last three years.
“I’m honored to be selected to lead a school such as Northside,”
Stone said. “I look forward to working with the students, staff, and school community at Northside. Our goal is to continue building upon the tremendous tradition of excellence that has been set in academics, arts, and athletics. I’m confident that our collective
efforts as a school will have a positive impact on the learning and the lives of our students.”
Prior to working in District 50, Stone served as a social studies teacher at Dixie High School for over 15 years. During his tenure at the school, he also worked as a teacher cadet instructor and
athletic coach. Stone obtained his bachelor’s degree in political
science from The Citadel and his master’s degree from Converse
College. In 2018, Stone received his Master of Education degree
in Administration and Supervision from the University of South
Carolina.
“Mr. Stone is an outstanding educator,” Superintendent Dr. Steve Glenn stated. “He has a proven track record of achieving success and is enthusiastic about seeing our middle school students become college and career ready. His rapport with teachers and familiarity with our district is an added bonus.”
