In response to rapidly changing developments of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), online instruction at Lander University will be extended through the conclusion of the spring semester, with all classes, instruction, labs and final exams administered virtually. Face-to-face instruction will not resume for Spring 2020.
Students who are unable to return home due to extenuating circumstances will be allowed to remain in campus housing with approval from the University’s Office of Housing and Residence Life. Lander’s Residence Life team is working on a plan to allow all other students to return to campus to safely retrieve personal belongings at a later date. More information regarding this plan will be announced in the coming days. Students with questions regarding housing should contact housing@lander.edu or 864-388-8266during business hours.
The University administration is working with the state’s Commission on Higher Education on a plan to address students’ investments in housing and dining services. Details of this plan will be communicated to students as soon as those decisions are made.
All campus events scheduled through the end of the Spring 2020 semester are cancelled or postponed. The University’s Spring Commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 13, 2020, will be postponed in order to protect the safety of our students, faculty, staff and guests. While the graduation ceremony is postponed, degrees will still be conferred on schedule to students who successfully complete all degree requirements.
In accordance with S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster’s Executive Order 2020-11, until further notice, only essential personnel are permitted to physically report to campus. All other personnel are prohibited from reporting to campus for work, and should utilize telecommuting or work-from-home options. Supervisors will be in contact with their employees regarding possible telecommuting and essential personnel assignments.
