Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office COVID-19 Precautions

During the current pandemic of COVID-19, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office will continue to deliver excellent and professional law enforcement service to all citizens and businesses throughout Greenwood County.  In an attempt to limit exposure to and spread of COVID-19, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office will be taking the following steps beginning Friday, March 20, 2020, until further notice:

  • There will be limited access to Law Enforcement Center beyond the lobby.  Metal permits and fingerprints are suspended, and sex offender registrations will be made by appointment.  Incident reports can be e-mailed, faxed or mailed.  Please call 864-942-8600 for assistance.
  • Non-emergency calls for service in regards to incidents that have already occurred where there is no physical evidence to be processed and both parties are not on the scene will be handled by telephone.  Please provide a current, working telephone number so that a deputy can promptly reach you.  A supervisor will monitor all calls for service to determine the type of response.  Follow-up investigations will not change.
  • Deputies will continue to respond to emergency calls, crimes in progress, and incidents where citizens’ well-being is threatened.  If a response is necessary and where appropriate, deputies have been instructed to practice social distancing (6 – 8 feet).  If possible, meet deputies outside to take advantage of open air.

Your patience and understanding while emergency workers perform their duties in the midst of this pandemic is greatly appreciated.  It is important that our deputies stay healthy and are able to take care of the citizens of Greenwood County, as well as their own families.  We ask that if you are able, continue to check on the elderly and disabled in your community, and if there is a concern, please call dispatch (911 or 864-942-8632) or the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.

Sincerely,

Sheriff Dennis Kelly
