ARREST MADE REGARDING RECENT ARMED ROBBERIES
ARREST MADE REGARDING RECENT ARMED ROBBERIES

On Saturday, March 9th 2019, law enforcement agents from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood Police Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol worked in concert to make an arrest for a crime spree that spanned over the past few weeks. Kevin McKenzie Jackson, 26, of 209 Logan Road in Greenwood was arrested. Jackson has been identified as the suspect from several armed robberies across the Greenwood area.
At approximately 10:20 AM on March 9th, Greenwood Police Department responded to the Pizza Hut on Edgefield Street in reference to a robbery. During this incident, the clerk was assaulted by pepper spray and the suspect took money from the register. Around 2:15 PM Troopers with SCHP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Woodlawn Road. During the collision investigation the driver was identified as Jackson. Jackson was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and also in possession of a stolen firearm from Charleston, SC. During the search of the vehicle the Trooper, having prior knowledge of the recent robbery, located several items that peaked his interest. The Trooper then called for additional units, to include Greenwood County Deputies and Greenwood Police Officers to respond. Evidence and information were located and collected from suspect vehicle. Jackson was jailed at the time and he was suspected of committing additional robberies.
Both Greenwood County and Greenwood Police Department Investigators obtained a search warrant for Jackson’s residence on Logan Road. During the search a grey 2014 Kia Soul was recovered and found to be stolen from Greenwood County on February 4th, 2019. The 2014 Kia Soul also matched the description of the suspect vehicle at several other armed robbery incidents. The said incidents occurred on February 10th,2019 at the Stop-A-Minit on SC 72, on March 2nd,2019 at the Stop-A-Minit on SC 72, and on March 8th,2019 at the EZ Trip store at the corner of Old Abbeville Highway and SC 72 Business.
