Eaton Charitable Contribution Grant

During the spring of 2018, Greenwood School District 50 was once again given the opportunity to apply for the Eaton Charitable Contribution Grant. Eaton and District 50 began a collaborative partnership in 2009. Since that time, District 50 has received more than $170,000 in grants to support STEM initiatives.

At the September Board of Trustees meeting, District 50 received a check for $25,000 from Eaton representatives. Proceeds from the grant will provide virtual-reality learning and teaching tools, Google Expedition kits, for our K4-12th grade students and teachers.  Google Expedition kits will allow teachers to supplement and enhance their current curriculum through virtual-reality experiences. Students will be able to experience swimming with sharks, visit outer space, or walk through a museum with more than 500 expeditions without leaving the classroom. Many career expeditions are included in the Google Expedition kits. Students will engage virtually in career paths that they are interested in pursuing. Our Instructional Technology Coaches will work with our students and teachers to bring this technology into the classrooms.

Board members and Eaton representatives were provided the opportunity to experience the Google Expedition kits first hand at the September Board meeting.
