LUPD protects Greenwood

At 4:14am on October 5, 2014 a Lander University Alert was issued advising of an Armed and Dangerous person in the area of Lander’s campus.
Lander University Police Department (LUPD) wanted to give a brief explanation for the alert having been issued. A convenience store on Montague Ave. was robbed. The Greenwood Police Department issued a lookout to other law enforcement agencies including LUPD. While an LUPD officer was protecting Bearcat Village (BCV), he saw the armed robbery suspect run into the BCV visitor’s parking lot. The LUPD officer chased the suspect on foot through BCV until the suspect entered a drain pipe that extends under the Heritage Trail. After a brief period,  the suspect was taken into custody.
At 4:59am another Lander Alert was issued giving the All Clear.
