Ugliest Garage Door Contest

No Purchase Necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning. Void where prohibited.

1. How To Enter

a. The Ugliest Garage Door Contest will begin….

b. To participate in the contest, you may enter via the following method(s);  between  March 10 and April 15, send your full name, address, phone number, email address, and birthdate and upload a picture of your garage door to: Put “ugly door contest” in the subject line.  You may also bring your entries and photos to Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation’s Showroom. Voting to select the three finalists will run from  March 10, 2015 to April 15, 2015. The three entries with the most votes will be selected as the finalists. The three finalists will be on display on Greenwood Calendar between April 18 and April 28.  Whichever  receives the most votes will win 1 (One) garage door 8’ x 7’ or 16’ x 7’ style of their choice.  The winner will be notified on April 30th and featured on a video on Greenwood Calendar.

c. All entries must contain contestant’s full name, address, email address, and phone number.  Only one entry per person or per email address.  All contestants must reside in one of the following counties: Greenwood, Abbeville, McCormick, Ninety Six, or Laurens.

d. Contestants must provide truthful information and Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation will delete any entry with information it deems false.  Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation will disqualify any contestant who does not meet the eligibility requirements.  Lakelands will also delete any entry from persons under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

e. All contestants must “Like” The Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation Facebook Page.

f. Only one entry per person.


2 Eligibility Restrictions

a. The contest is open to all Greenwood residents who are 21 years of age or older and who legally reside in Greenwood county. Employees of Greenwood Calendar and its affiliates are ineligible to participate or win.

b. Participants must own a home and will be required to sign a participant release and provide a valid driver’s license.

c. There must be a garage door currently in place. There may not be a tarped or boarded up opening.

d. Winner must provide a prepared opening for the garage door to be installed if one is not available. Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation will provide a quote to prepare it for the winner at an additional fee. Garage also must be plum.



a. Grand Prize: either 8×7 (or single door equivalent) or 16×7 or double door equivalent installed by Lakelands Overhead Door (Value to be determined by the model and style selected).

b. Lakelands Overhead Door will contact the winner of the garage door. The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed within forty-five 45 days of winning. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. Greenwood Calendar is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.

c. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that Greenwood Calendar may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes are expressly limited to the items listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.



a. Decisions of Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation with respect to this contest are final.

b. Photos will be reviewed and finalists will be selected by the Public voting on Greenwood Calendar.  The top three photos with the most votes will be finalists for the ugliest garage door and the garage door with the most votes will win. All votes will be completed on Greenwood If there is a tie, there will be a random drawing to determine a grand prize winner.

c. The winner will be notified by Lakelands Overhead Door on April 30, 2015



a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.

b. By participating in the contest, the winner or winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.

c. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation may require contest winners to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.

d. Lakelands Overhead Door, and Insulation reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. “If due to circumstances beyond the control of Lakelands Overhead Door any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation reserves the right, but not the obligation to cancel or modify the contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.”

e. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation.

f.  Lakelands Overhead Door and Insulation is not responsible for the typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
