Traffic Reminder from the City Manager

Message from Greenwood’s City Managaer

As the South Carolina Festival of Flowers topiaries begin showing up on the Uptown Square today, this is a PERFECT time to remind you and your staff of upcoming traffic and parking issues related to summer events.

Please make sure the following dates are on your calendars:

June 20-22 MAIN WEEEKEND SC Festival of Flowers (https://www.scfestivalofflowers.org/schedule). For the last 4-5 years, we have closed and detoured Main Street/US 25 to accommodate the Festival’s Bluegrass concert. No Main Street closure/detour this year! NEW FOR 2014! The Bluegrass Concert will take place Saturday, June 21 on Oregon Avenue. Therefore, a partial closure will occur on Oregon Avenue ALL DAY Saturday, June 21. Traffic will still be able to come off of Main Street/US 25 onto Oregon Avenue to access parking behind the Federal Building, Theatre, and Museum. The setup will be very similar to the recent SpringFest event. Hopefully, this setup will work much better for Uptown Restaurants, etc.

July 10 – 13 SC Festival of Discovery (https://www.festivalofdiscovery.com). Anticipate a CLOSURE and DETOUR of Main Street/US 25 beginning at approximately 6 PM Thursday, July 10 and continuing through Sunday, July 13 at noon. The closure/detour, in large part, will be very similar to the 2013 detour. We are making some modifications at Seaboard/Pressley. I will send a digital map of the detour in the coming weeks.

Thank you in advance for your continued patience, cooperation and support of these events!
