Greenwood, SC (Wednesday, March 6th, 2019, 3:00 PM)
*On 03/06/2019 at 03:28 AM our E911 Communications Center received a call from a female subject stating her son had just arrived home acting strange. The female subject advised she believes her son had been involved in some type of shooting located on Warner Road, which is a dirt road on the South end of Greenwood County.
*On 03/06/2019 at 3:45 AM Uniform Patrol Deputies arrived at the caller’s residence and began an initial interview of the caller and her son.
*Uniform Patrol Deputies from Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office searched Warner Road for the incident location. At approximately 04:21 AM on 03/06/2019 Deputies located a male adult victim with a gunshot wound who appeared to be deceased. Greenwood County EMS responded to the scene as well and determined the victim to be deceased. At that time the Greenwood County Coroner along with the GCSO Criminal Investigators were called to the scene
- The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Marty Anthony George of Greenwood, SC.
- Mark Anthony Hailey Jr was taken into custody and transported to SelfRegional Healthcare for evaluation. Upon being released from Self Regional Healthcare Hailey was transported to the Greenwood County Detention Center where he was booked in for Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
- A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
