Fire at Sports Break

According to Mandy Crotts, an employee at David CROTTS and associates, “We saw the smoke out of the Sports Break window when it happened, so a co worker and I ran down Montague to see what was going on. The smoke looked really bad. When we got there the fire department had just beaten us and were hooking up hoses and blocking off Montague.” Crotts added,  “The flames were coming out the side where the door was and the smoke was horrible. The whole front end was just engulfed in smoke. It was really sad to see this.  Crotts recalled, “I have had a lot of great times at Sports Break.” Crotts ended, “Luckily they were not suppose to open till 4 so no one was there.”

The Greenwood Fire Department were on the scene within 30 minutes. According to early findings, there are no reports of injury at this time. According to local reports, the restaurant had been closed due to weather conditions, but an employee, who was  in the kitchen smelled smoke. Fire officials said the employee then found the front of the building near a fireplace on fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
