Uptown Greenwood Fountain
The Medicine Chase Challenge (formerly Walk with the Docs) celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018. This year event options include a 5K, 1 Mile Walk, and ½ Mile Fun Run for Kids. The ½ Mile Fun Run for Kids has been added to encourage family fitness and fun.
The Chase will be held on Saturday, April 21st at the Fountain in Uptown Greenwood. Registration will begin at 8:00 am with the races beginning at 9:00 am. Additional time has been added for registration as time chips will be used this year.
All participants registered by April 8th will receive a dri-fit event tee. Monetary awards will be given to the overall male and female runners and masters male and female runners. Ribbon awards will be given to the top two runners/walkers in each age division.
All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase medications and medical supplies for the patients served through the Greater Greenwood United Ministry (GGUM) free medical and dental clinics. The free medical clinic serves as the primary care medical home to over 1,200 Greenwood County residents. The clinics serve anyone who cannot afford health insurance and does not qualify for Medicaid. The dental clinic served 138 patients in 2017. In addition to the primary healthcare and dental services offered, GGUM is developing a host of prevention programs and services that will benefit their patients and others in the community.
We are currently seeking participants and sponsors for the Chase. Registration and sponsor forms are available on the organization’s website at www.greatergreenwoodunitedministry.org. On-line participant registration is available at racingtoes.com.
The GGUM free medical and dental clinics have been blessed to be an integral part of the healthcare system in our community for over 20 years. Please register to be a part of this important event to raise much needed funds for these medications and medical supplies.
The event is hosted by Greater Greenwood United Ministry Free Medical and Dental Clinics.
