The Lander Players Bring Four New Plays To Life in October
Written by Laura Dennin
GREENWOOD, SC – Depression? Demons? Drugs? Drama? Find out what these themes have in common at the Lander Players’ One-Act Plays performances in October. Come experience four never-before-seen plays written exclusively for the Lander Players’ annual Playwriting Festival. This inaugural performance includes a variety of genres with scripts containing heavy emotional issues like depression, addiction, inner demons, and self esteem, as well as lighter moments of unadulterated guilty pleasure.
The scripts selected were written by current Lander Players members, but their annual Playwriting Festival accepts submissions from anyone interested in having their original work produced. The chosen scripts, “Date Night with Depression” by Lea Toby, “Stagnant” by Laura Riddle Dennin, “Personal Demons” by Jacob Roten, and “The Real Housewife of Athens County” by Keith Dumais, are full of light-hearted humor, emotional turmoil, sincerity, and more than a little satire.
Due to the nature of these plays’ content, this event is for mature audiences only. You must be 18+, have a Lander ID, or be 13+ with the supervision of a parent to attend the event. All Lander students, faculty, and staff get 1 free ticket with their Lander ID, but everyone must reserve a ticket at www.landerplayers.com. General admission tickets are only $5, and are available online now and at the Cultural Center Box Office Oct. 15-21.
This collection of one-act plays will be performed in Lander University’s Greenroom Studio, CC-220, on October 18, 19, and 20 at 7 pm, and October 20 and 21 at 2 pm. For additional information, visit www.landerplayers.com or email their staff advisor, Laura Dennin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
