Food Freedom Walk
May 24, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
This is a community event designed to promote our rights as consumers to safe & healthy food options. Many local and organic food advocates will be marching along Montague Avenue Saturday morning, May 24th, in order to raise awareness among our neighbors of the importance of and impact that their food choices can have on organic options available to all of us here in Greenwood. Many local venders (including Parisi Farms and Happy Critters Ranch) will be on sight at the Uptown Farmer’s Market Stands selling pesticide-free produce and pasture-raised meats as we celebrate with live music and organic treats for sale. There will also be several informational booths set up to help educate interested people about the way our food is currently labeled, the potential dangers of pesticides and genetically modified crops, how we can all help the dwindling bee population, and more. We hope you will join us Uptown to celebrate your right to be a happy, healthy, well-informed consumer. See you at the Market!
To participate in the walk… please meet at 9:45am in the Big Lots parking lot. It is going to be hot, so please bring plenty of water. The walk will conclude at the Uptown Farmer’s Market around 11:30am. If you can not commit that much time, please plan to come out to the market anyway. We’d love to have you!!
