FESTIVA Art Series Welcomes the Greenwood Festival Chorale and Palmetto Girls Sing! in PSALMFEST

The Psalms of David have been a rich repository of texts and inspiration for composers throughout the centuries, from simple Gregorian Chants to large-scale works for chorus and orchestra. FESTIVA is pleased to welcome the Greenwood Festival Chorale in PSALMFEST, choral works based on Psalm texts. This free concert will be on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 4:00 pm, at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood. Dr. Marion Smith is Artistic Director and Conductor of the chorale. Robert P. Glick will accompany the chorale on the organ, and Matthew Miller will provide piano accompaniment. Sonja Crenshaw will provide additional accompaniment on the French horn. The program will feature works by Palestrina, Haydn, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Rutter, and others. Special guests will be the newly-formed Palmetto Girls Sing! Under the direction of Amy Q. Fennell, the Palmetto Girls Sing! is an ensemble for 4th-8th grade girls in the Greenwood area. The FESTIVA Art Series of First Presbyterian Church is supported by the generous contributions of individuals and organizations that support the arts.
