COUNTYBANK FOUNDATION PRESENTS $20,000 TO GREENWOOD AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Greenwood, S.C. — The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently donated $20,000 to Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity. This donation is part of a five-year plan to donate a total of $100,000.

Lynn Turner, Vice President and Credit Officer for Countybank, Wells Dunlap, Commercial Relationship Manager for Countybank; and John Cooper, Private Client Investor for Greenwood Capital, recently presented the check on behalf of the foundation to Stephen Baggett, Jr., Executive Director of Greenwood Area Habitat.

“Greenwood Area Habitat is making great strides in our community,” said Turner, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Greenwood Area Habitat. “Through initiatives like the Apostles Build we are able to connect Greenwood Area Habitat’s work to the ministries of our church partners. This, coupled with the relocation of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore building to Uptown have made a positive impact.”

The annual Countybank Foundation donation, initiated three years ago, provided the financial support needed for Greenwood Area Habitat to relocate its ReStore to Greenwood’s Uptown neighborhood, bringing Habitat’s daily operations closer to the communities it serves. Since then, Greenwood Area Habitat has consolidated all operations into the Uptown headquarters, allowing construction, administration, and the ReStore to run more efficiently. The Countybank Foundation donation also supports general operations, programming, and infrastructure for the organization, including area home builds.

“Countybank and Greenwood Capital have been instrumental in Habitat’s development over the past three years,” said Baggett. “Their support has allowed us to better serve our communities through the ReStore, home builds, and rehabilitations. Together, Countybank, Greenwood Capital, and Habitat for Humanity are helping families achieve the stability and independence they need to create a better life for themselves.”

Countybank is unique in that it provides customers with dedicated, customized mortgage solutions. The Countybank Mortgage team consists of a professional team of mortgage consultants with expertise on the home buying, refinancing, and building process. This allows Countybank to approach its volunteer and financial contributions with Habitat through a slightly different lens.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build their own homes alongside volunteers and then pay an affordable mortgage. Its goal is to create opportunities for all people to live in decent and durable shelter. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home improvement store and donation center that specializes in new and gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, building materials, and more.

“The Countybank Foundation is honored to provide continued support to an organization that makes a noticeable impact on our local community,” said David Tompkins, Senior Vice President, Greenwood Market Executive of Countybank. “We look forward to seeing the ReStore continue to thrive in its new Uptown location.”
