COUNTYBANK FOUNDATION DONATES $5K TO UPSTATE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

Greenwood, S.C. — The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, donated $5,000 to Upstate American Heart Association (AHA). The donation will support the continuation of CPR trainings for Upstate residents, as well as support the AHA’s nutrition security programming healthy food and resources for residents living in food deserts.

The AHA’s Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Training consists of a 4-hour course that prepares participants to respond to emergencies at home, school, or work. The course covers first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, how to prevent illness and injury, and adult CPR and AED use.

“The Countybank Foundation is honored to support the AHA’s training program, which is designed to help students detect the signs and symptoms of a stroke,” said Ken Harper, Chief Banking Officer for Countybank. “This program has also enabled us to provide first aid and CPR training to Countybank and Greenwood Capital associates, certifying and equipping them to respond and help others in an emergency.”

The recent donation will also provide easy access to healthy food for those in need through local food pantries. “Countybank and Greenwood Capital’s donation provides two-fold support, allowing us to provide much needed resources to our community partners that encourage healthy eating and help prevent heart attacks and strokes,” said Adelyn Nottingham, Director of Development for AHA, “and providing CPR training that enables individuals to take immediate action and save lives in the event of an emergency.”

“With today’s high cost of living, it is even more important for the families in our community to have access to healthy food,” said Brian Disher, Director of Wealth Management for Greenwood Capital. “We are pleased to support work that AHA is doing in the Upstate to help meet that need.”
