Southern Classic Volleyball comes to Greenwood

The Southern classic is a volleyball event, and it’s in its 19th year. Originally based primarily out of Spartanburg and Greenville, this year we are bringing part of the event to Greenwood.
It runs over two weekends February 28 is the club division, lower division. March 7 and 8th is the open division, the highest level.
The total event brings in a little over 300 teams from five states. Greenwood gym sites will have about 75 teams out of the 300. Local hotels are completely sold out so that should be a good economic benefit for the city.
We are using Lander, Erskine, Greenwood YMCA, and 96 old and new schools. The total event is spread throughout the upstate, using facilities in Greenwood, Spartanburg, Greenville, Easley, Clemson, and Anderson.
